It is always very impressive as the river Enns in the rift valley has a path blazed by the left and right straight up towering mountains. The Enns is particularly in the area Gesäuse not a carrier, but a raging, wild river. If you want to see that exactly book simply a rafting trip on the river Enns. Furthermore the romantic Gesäuse attracts impress hundreds of thousands hikers, whitewater paddlers, cyclists, mountain bikers, climbers and holiday makers each year. The huts in the National Park Gesaeuse reach from 978m to 1723m, there are a total of nine huts, which have aligned their offerings especially for hikers, climbers and mountaineers. Tourism in Gesäuse began with the opening of the railroad Crown Prince Rudolf in the 19th century. The mountain pioneer Henry Hess is the discoverer of the Region Gesäuse, who conducted many first ascents in Gesäuse - such as the mountain Hochtor. So also the largest base in the Hochtorgruppe, the very nice Hesshütte was named after him. In the 1920s a numerous of climbing routes was developed  in the Hochtorgroup and on the mountains Admonter Reichenstein and Buchstein.

The National Park Pavilion is located in Gstatterboden, a small town in the center of the Gesäuse and he is a very good way for a longer break on the bicycle tour Gesäuse. The good architecture of the building and a modern restaurant with a sunny terrace and good views of the mountains interesting. In the multi-media exhibition on geology, which you can see also in the nature park pavilion Gstatterboden, you can learn at a very interesting way about the geology and origin of the Gesäuse. There are, for example, a virtual climb, a downhill run on a virtual ice age glaciers, and a virtual hang-gliding over the National Park Gesäuse. The parking by the National Park Pavilion Gstatterboden is also the starting point of the official Hochscheibenalm MTB tour that runs right through the National Park Gesäuse. A tip for all mountain bikers, as we might know next to the demanding tour on the Hochscheibenalm (1.195m), the beautiful, unspoilt countryside in the National Gesäuse very good. Above all, the Hochscheibenalm MTB tour is therefore recommended, as there are along the route many very good vantage points.
