Of the 9.4 kilometers between Admont and Frauenberg are only the last 500m with a slope of 25%, a bit demanding. Because long sections of the hiking trail are near the Enns river, the hike is for safety only possible if the Enns has no flood.

First, we walk about 400m around the abbey pond. This is mainly for photographers very interesting because in the pond the convent building and the mountains - Haller walls reflect very beautifully. Then we go through the market to the north. Admont is framed by the mountains - Haller Mauern in the north, the Buchstein and the Gesäuse in the east and south of the Kaiserau, Hahnstein, Kreuzkogel and Riffel. Admont is one of the oldest settlements in Styria. Today in the market town live about 2.600 people and Admont was mentioned 859 as Ademundi vallis for the first time. Around the year 800 was also built the first church and since 1074 there is the Benedictine abbey and a monastery. At Km 1.1, we leave the main road and turn about 200m before the bridge left onto the street - Wagnerstraße. This we follow to the west until Km2 where the hiking trail along the Enns river begins. The many trees and bushes on the river bank give us a plenty of shade and protect us from the wind until Km 5. The narrow trail is very varied. Especially in the fall, this section is very colorful. Then the single trail ends and we walk on a dirt road past the Frauenberger peat mining to the road - Mödringerstraße at Km 7.6. Now, the sanctuary Frauenberg on the hill – Kalvarienberg is not far away. We cross the river Enns and the main road. Then we hike up about 500 meters and with an average of 25% on the hill - Kalvarienberg.

The small effort is worth it in any case. You’ll have a good view, a beautiful sanctuary and a worth seeing meditation garden. The pilgrimage church with 2 very beautiful Baroque towers situated 125m above the Enns Valley. First documented was the Sanctuary Frauenberg in 1175. Since the 15th Century began the pilgrimages. A wonderful place for a rest and recharge your batteries. Who does not want to go back the same route to Admont achieved after only one kilometer the center of Frauenberg. And before returning to Admont by bus, you could swim in the natural bath.
