Grundlsee is a community in Styria with 1,300 inhabitants and is located in the beautiful holiday region - Salzkammergut / Ausseerland. The village is on the western shore of the lake - Grundlsee. The Grundlsee is not quite 6 kilometers long and a very popular lake in the summer with temperatures of 20 to 22 degrees and a 14-kilometer-long natural beach. Especially the beautiful mountains around the lake make bathing to a great experience. The Grundlsee with its 420ha is the largest Styrian Lake and is therefore referred as "Styrian Sea". The maximum depth is 64m. In the fall the landscape it's always very colorful. The walks around the Grundlsee and from Grundlsee to the next lake – Toplitzsee is in autumn recommendable. In Gößl on the eastern shore of Grundlsee there are in the winter 3 trails for cross country skiers. Only a few kilometers east of the Grundlsee is located the mysterious lake - Toplitzsee. Its deepest point is 103m. Directly on the western shore is the hut - Fischerhütte, where you can spend in the garden very nice romantic moments. The Toplitzsee can’t circumnavigate on foot due to its topography. But anyone who wants to see more of the Toplitzsee can take a tour with the small local shipping company on little boats to the smaller lake - Kammersee. On Kammersee is also the source of the River Traun.

More beautiful lakes in Grundlsee are the lakes - Lahngangseen. The two lakes are located in a narrow valley north of Grundlsee. The lake “Vorderer Lahngangsee” is a natural gene reservoir for one of the most popular fish species in the Salzkammergut, the - char. The “Vorderer Lahngangsee is at an altitude of 1.494m and has a maximum depth of 70 meters. 128m above is the “Hinterer Lahngangsee” with a maximum depth of 35 meters. Both lakes you can reach of Gößl in about 2 hours relatively easy. On the way to the 2.128m high mountain “Elm” is one hour after the Lahngangsee the hut “Pühringerhütte” on the lake - Elmsee. The refuge of the Austrian Alpine Club has open from May to October. The Pühringerhütte is also an ideal base for long walks in the mountains “Totes Gebirge” and to Upper Austria.
