In addition to the starting point at the end of the toll Tauplitzalm Alpine

the top station. First you walk in a westerly direction to the first lake

such as habitat Dragonflies, frogs and many other small animals cavort.
After a slight slope towards the east there is a small hill with about 50 altimeters.
Above the second lake - Großsee you have already the next wonderful view on the
beautiful plateau of the Tauplitzalm and to the mountain Traweng 1.981m. West
on Großsee you walk past now 500m north to the third lake - Märchensee 1.580m.
The lovely Märchensee is located in a small hollow. Here you could insert a
quiet break.
Then you’ll pass the Großsee 1,575 m and Tauplitzsee 1.602m in the north. The
next good rest stop is on the Grazerhütte 1.618m. Up to 50 people can eat and
stay on the cozy Grazerhütte. On the Tauplitzalm there are some further hiking
tours like on the mountain Traweng 1.981m or Großes Tragl 2.179m. 500m after
the hut Grazerhütte is the bench „Steirersee Bankerl“. Here you have a
wonderful view of the mountain - Sturzhahn 2.031m and approximately 150m
deeper, the shimmering green lake Steirersee.
From here, good hiking shoes are required. Before the trail north along the
Steirersee and Schwarzensee begin you have to hike down a small descent to the also
managed huts - Steirerseehütten. After many small ups and downs you’ll reach
the west bank of the lake Schwarzensee 1.552m after 8 km. After that you walk
further down to the lake Steirersee. The beautiful alpine lake is on 1.446m at
the lowest point of this hike. With an area of 11.2
hectares and a depth of 20m it is the largest lake on the Tauplitzalm. In good
weather the two small islands on the eastern shore are very wonderful.
Back to the starting point there is first a steep slope up to the huts
Steirerseehütten. Then you’ll hike something easier on the road - Tauplitzalm
Plateauweg. The last 2.5 km of the single-track trail are paved, so you
reach easily the parking lot.
