 The Snowshoe Tour to the hut - Grabneralmhaus begins at the parking lot directly on Buchauer saddle on 885m. It has a length of 8.5 kilometers and 520 vertical meters. After the first 200 meters across a field we go up about one kilometer on the old forest road with an average gradient of 16%.

The remaining 3.3 km to the Grabneralm house on the new road have then an average gradient of about 10%. After 2.9 km we leave the forest and reach the pasture Grabneralm. The next 800m are relatively flat before the we go up the last 70 vertical meters to the Grabneralmhaus. Once on the Grabneralm we enjoy the wonderful view of the prominent peaks in Gesäuse: Grabnerstein, Kleiner Buchtstein, Großer Buchstein, Planspitze, Hochtor and Großer Ödstein. Grabneralmhaus. The state school Grabnerhof in Weng im Gesäuse was bought by the Styrian government in 1901 along with the Grabneralm. From 1902 to 1905 a hut and 2 cowsheds were built. 1906 - First alpine economy training course on Grabneralm. 1912 was built the 3rd cowshed. 1914 to 1916 construction of a little school building. From 1946 - 1964 Rental of the hut - Grabneralmhaus as a winter ski home. 1952 next to the ropeway from Buchau the Walfinggraben to Grabneralmhaus also a small ski lift was built behind the hut. From this time the Grabneralmhaus was already rented year-round. After the construction of the forest road in 1974, the cable car system was closed down again. 2011, a new pool of water and a hydroelectric power plant was built. Thus, not only the goat cheese factory but also the Grabneralmhaus has a reliable drinking water and electricity supply.
