The walk from Gaishorn to Mödlingerhütte offers 2 possibilities. First you can take the entire hike on a beautiful forest road, or you drive on the toll road 7 km up with the car. The parking lot is for about 30 cars. From this parking lot the walk to the Mödlinger hut takes only 15 minutes. The first 2km from Gaishorn to the toll station are still easy with an average gradient of about 5%. The other 5 km have an average gradient of 13 percent. Several cuts have a slope of about 20%. Even those who drive by car up to the parking lot have between km 7 and km 7.5 a gradient with ca. 30%. After this steep section you'll reach the Treffner Alm on which was built the hut Mödlingerhütte. About the lush meadows, you can see from far the Mödlingerhütte and together with the for climbers very interesting mountain Admonter Reichenstein in the background, this results in an incredibly beautiful view.

On the sunny terrace at the hut - Mödlingerhütte you have a great view into Johnsbach valley. If you walk a few hundred meters further towards Reichenstein, there is a small romantic lake (no bigger than a pond). The rise of hiking to Mödlingerhütte located mostly in a dense forest. This is especially on hot summer days, especially important. At eight clock the whole hiking tour from Gaishorn to the Mödlingerhütte is in the shadow of the rising sun. Up to the toll station, there is a second option (in the Google Map shown in red).
