This time I selected Gröbming as a starting point for the hike to the Viehbergalm hut between Gröbming in the Ennsvalley and Bad Mitterndorf in Salzkammergut-Ausseerland.
Up to the section ovens in Gröbming you can drive by car.
From there the trail leads on a beautiful 7.5 km long forest road to Viehbergalm.
Even in Gröbming you have at the beginning of the hike a beautiful view of the mountains Kammspitze and Stoderzinken.

Immediately after the Kneipp facility in Gröbming starts the hiking tour up through the ovens. The slope is 500m long, max. 25% and an average of 20%.
After 6 tight turns and 5 wooden bridges you've made it and the remaining part of the hike is very easily.
After the ovens is a long, flat section. In general, there are on the rise until Viehbergalm very many short steep parts up to 15% and then flat sections. The higher you go the easier the migration. The condition of the forest road improved. If the gravel bottom still very rough in places it above a fine and solid.
When you'll hike to the Viehbergalm you have a wonderful view towards the Dachstein glacier and there are several very good pastures for extensive rest.

From Viehbergalm hut to Bad Mitterndorf it is still 40 meters uphill (to 1494 meters) before the hike to Bad Mitterndorf continues down. Again, there are numerous viewpoints for example: mountain Kammspitze
, the Tauplitzalm, Salza reservoir etc.

The Viehbergalm between Gröbming in the Enns valley and Bad Mitterndorf in Ausseerland located in an area of about 10km ² and belongs to the municipality of Gröbming. The vast majority of which is covered by forest. On the Viehbergalm there are 8 huts and grazing rights for 210 cows, 32 pigs and 120 head of young stock. Owner of the Viehbergalm is the Austrian Federal Forests. The first documented mention was in 1468. But the Viehbergalm has probably been inhabited by humans much earlier. Then the finds of Roman coins in excavations and rock carvings of the salt-makers in Bad Aussee to interpret. Because the Alps mountain biking tour Austria and the Dachstein mountain bike round leading the Viehbergalm, some huts, such as The Ritzingerhütte have some special offers for mountain bikers. Biker menu, tool service and weather information. For mountain bikers and hikers, there are 8 beds to sleep on the Viehbergalm.

The Ennsvalley is in the middle of Austria and was named after the largest river in the valley. The Enns is a 254 kilometers long tributary of the Danube. It rises in the province of Salzburg in the Radstätter Tauern. From Salzburg the Enns flows eastwards through Styria. Between Admont and Hieflau in Upper Styria, the Enns breaks through a Narrow valley - the Gesäuse in the Ennstal Alps before it flows north to Upper Austria. In the last section is the Enns, the boundary between Upper and Lower Austria. Between the villages of Mauthausen and Enns empties the Enns, as 100m wide river, into the Danube.

The Ennsvalley is one of the major valleys in Austria, and forms the geological boundary between the Northern Limestone Alps and the Central Alps south of the river Enns. The mountains of the northern Limestone Alps are often very steep and less forested than the south of the Central gentler mountains are more accessible for hikers. Where the mountains from east to west are becoming increasingly burdensome. The upper Ennsvalley at the border between the Austrian provinces of Salzburg and Styria, the Enns river flows south past the Dachstein glacier.
