This time I selected Gröbming as a starting point for the hike to the Viehbergalm hut between Gröbming in the Ennsvalley and Bad Mitterndorf in Salzkammergut-Ausseerland. The Viehbergalm between Gröbming in the Enns valley and Bad Mitterndorf in Ausseerland located in an area of about 10km ² and belongs to the municipality of Gröbming. The vast majority of which is covered by forest. On the Viehbergalm there are 8 huts and grazing rights for 210 cows, 32 pigs and 120 head of young stock. Owner of the Viehbergalm is the Austrian Federal Forests. The first documented mention was in 1468. But the Viehbergalm has probably been inhabited by humans much earlier. Then the finds of Roman coins in excavations and rock carvings of the salt-makers in Bad Aussee to interpret. Because the Alps mountain biking tour Austria and the Dachstein mountain bike round leading the Viehbergalm, some huts, such as The Ritzingerhütte have some special offers for mountain bikers. Biker menu, tool service and weather information. For mountain bikers and hikers, there are 8 beds to sleep on the Viehbergalm. |

Gröbming is a very nice market town in the district Liezen - Styria / Austria. Due to the size of the district Liezen there are in addition Bad Aussee and Gröbming an Expositor. Surrounded by the two beautiful mountains Stoderzinken and Kammspitze. The Enns valley federal road passes as a ring road directly to Gröbming and therefore the small healing climatic health resort is easily accessible and is still very quiet. With the exception of old-timers very well-known annual rally - the Ennstal Classic. The Ennsvalley is one of the major valleys in Austria, and forms the geological boundary between the Northern Limestone Alps and the Central Alps south of the river Enns. The mountains of the northern Limestone Alps are often very steep and less forested than the south of the Central gentler mountains are more accessible for hikers. Where the mountains from east to west are becoming increasingly burdensome. The upper Ennsvalley at the border between the Austrian provinces of Salzburg and Styria, the Enns river flows south past the Dachstein glacier. The Dachstein 2.995m is the highest mountain in Styria. The people in the Ennsvalley live mainly from tourism and agriculture.
