The nearly 12-kilometer long hike up to the mountain “Kleiner Pyhrgas 2.023m” is only recommended on days when the trail is dry. From an altitude of 1,600 m, the hiking trail is demanding. Between the stones and rocks is also a lot of soil. Therefore, the path is very slippery in wet weather. For most children, it is too difficult and dangerous one kilometer above the managed hut -  Gowilalm. For everyone else, the tour is highly recommended because it has a beautiful view and the Gowilalm is an excellent refreshment.

From the car park in Oberweng at 883m we hike first 3.5 kilometers only slightly uphill to the unmanaged Holzeralm. We will pass the Stefansberg Alm after 1.6 km. This hut is because of the small petting zoo very interesting for small children. After the pasture Holzeralm we walk 500 meters long with an average gradient of 29% up towards Gowilalm. The remaining 400m to Gowilalm are then with about 20 vertical meters much easier. From there you have a wonderful view to Spital am Pyhrn, Windischgarsten and the mountains Sengsengebirge and Limestone Alps National Park. Next on the trail Nr.617 you’ll hike over gentle meadows and sparse larch forest to 5.3 km. Up to this point on about 1,600m the trail is still quite easy. After that the hiking trail to the summit is much harder. From the first safety rope on a small ledge, the trail is when it's wet and moist not recommended. The last 1,100m have an average gradient of 38% and a quite handsome alpine character. The stepped trail is rocky and between the stones is much soil. Therefore, it is very muddy and slippery in wet weather. Once at the top you have a wonderful view. Nearby, there are the mountains - Scheiblingstein and Großer Pyhrgas  - this is with  2.244m also the highest mountain in the mountains Haller Mauern.
