The recording of this Postalm cycling tour starts in Bad Goisern – Upper Austria. The beautiful market town is one of the best places for mountain bike and Racing Sport in Austria with the mtb highlight Salzkammergut Trophy. In Bad Goisern you’ll find also many well-marked mountain bike tours in the Salzkammergut.

The bike ride starts quite comfortable, and slightly sloping with some gentle slopes on the 13 kilometers to Bad Ischl. In addition to the main road there is in this area, a bike path. Who has enough time, should make a small sightseeing tour in Bad Ischl. Most of the beauties of the former royal holiday residence have been preserved to this day. Just before the ramp on the Wolfgangsee road you can turn right onto Kreutererstraße and avoid some traffic. The cyclists who choose the option on the Wolfgangsee road turn right afer 1.5 km to the village Pfandl. Through the villages Pfandl, Wirling and Radau you bike slightly uphill on the road L546 until Schwarzenbach. Before the rise up to the Postalm starts you are going south by Strobl am Wolfgangsee. After the underpass in Weissenbach starts the toll road.

Up to Postalm the 770 vertical meters, almost evenly distributed to 12 kilometers with an average gradient of about 6%. Who renounced the trip to the parking lot three saves, 120 meters and 3 kilometers. After 41km you reach the Postalm on 1.160m with a short descent. Before your departure to Rigaus starts you have to bike up on the Lienbachsattel - 2.5 kilometers and 140 altimeters. The 11 kilometer downhill on the bike ride Postalm to Rigaus is interrupted only once by a short pitch. After the downhill you drive east on a one-lane, well paved and little-used road to the confluence with the pass Gschütt highway. The 6 km long section is with 40 altimeters slightly rising.

The 10 kilometer climb to the pass Gschütt with about 330 meters, we know from the Dachstein biketour. On the Pass Gschütt road there is more traffic, but also a 0.5 - up to 1m wide bicycle lane up to the pass. With a fast descent, we left the state of Salzburg. In Upper Austria, Gosau you should definitely take a break and not miss the great views of the Gosaukamm. After the downhill to the Hallstättersee turn right if you have until now not seen the World Heritage Hallstatt. To Hallstatt are in fact only 4 kilometers. In the last 8 km to the starting point in Bad Goisern, there are along the Lake Hallstatt also some pretty good opportunities for a chilly rest.
