The Pöllautal in eastern Styria has an area of 122 square kilometers and consists of the municipalities Pöllau, Pöllauberg, Rabenwald, Schönegg, and Sonnhofen Saifenboden. It belongs to the district of Hartberg and the Styrian Joglland.

On Hartberger country people will find favour with interest in history. In the often varied austrian history over the last approximately 3,000 years ago, Romans, Goths, Mongols, Slavs, the Franks, the Magyars, the Turks and Kuruc, celts were here.
