The very beautiful nearly 87 km long cycling tour through the three Austrian provinces of Styria, Upper Austria and Lower Austria has no long difficult climbs. Only on the 10 km long ride on the Promau you have to overcome 350 vertical meters. Of particular interest are the sections between km 17 and km 54 – Kleinreifling, Weyer, Hollenstein an der Ybbs and Lassing.

Starting in St. Gallen in Styria you’ll drive cozy, because downhill, to Weissenbach an der Enns. Up to Altenmarkt bei St. Gallen there are the first 60 vertical meters to warm up. Between Altenmarkt bei St. Gallen and Weyer we drive on the Enns cycle path. After 17 km you leave at Kleinreifling the road and continues on the other side of the valley on a one-lane road with low traffic to Weyer. Weyer has 223.8 km² in area and is the second largest town in Upper Austria. The health resort is noted for its ideal climatic conditions since the times of Emperor and is famous by his fog-free "Golden Autumn". The well-preserved Katzensteiner mill in Weyer is particularly worth seeing. Right at the beginning of the main square, turn right and continue on the road L1337 towards Hollenstein. On the average 2.6% steep road you’ll reach after 5.5 kilometers on the point Pichlhöhe between Upper Austria and Lower Austria. It follows a short downhill and the next beautiful little town Hollenstein an der Ypps.

Between the mountains Gamsstein, Voralpe and Konigsberg is Hollenstein an der Ypps the capital of the Natural Park of Lower Austria Eisenwurzen. The long cultural development in the interaction of iron, wood and water are the features of this community at the Iron Road in Lower Austria. Especially for sport, the Natural Park of Lower Austria Eisenwurzen offers some well-marked mountain bike tours with a total length of 296 km and a vast network of different challenging hiking trails. In the next 10 km we drive up to the Promau - 809m. There is for a distance of 6 km with about 5% the largest slope. A few kilometers after Hollenstein an der  Ypps the road will be an one-lane road. But it is consistently beautiful paved and suitable for road bikes. After Promau there is a short climb with about 80 vertical meters down to the valley Mendlingtal. In Lassing we turn right and on the road Erlauftalstraße you’ll go back to Styria. After 61 km, turn right and go through the community Palfau towards Großreifling. The iron road also forms the final leg to Altenmarkt bei St.Gallen. Now we are missing only the 4.5 km back to St. Gallen.
