The starting point for those with "Fageralm Route 09" well-marked, moderately difficult mountain bike tour on the Fageralm is in Forstau. The community Forstau is on the border to Styria in the Salzburg district of St. Johann im Pongau. Forstau has about 560 inhabitants and is situated in a valley between Radstadt and Schladming on 923m.

Of the 10.9 kilometers, the first 4.2 km are paved and the rest of the mtb tour leads on a beautiful gravel road up to the pasture Trinkeralm 1.755m. There are no particularly steep sections, and no single-track trails. You can drive up to the Fageralm with your mountainbike from 1. May to 15. November and 2 hours after sunrise and 1 hour before sunset. Only on the downhill you have to watch, because some cars drive up to Trinkeralm and on the gravel road it could be a problem when you’ll brake. Please also be special consideration if you're going past the grazing cattle.

At the beginning in Forstau you have to drive up on the relatively little traffic main road L223 a 1.8km long slope with 9%. After a short flat section it is further comfortable with 6%. At km 3.1 km we reach the height of Mooshöhe / Löbenau on 1.112m and turn left. 200m after the country house - Kurzenhof the Fageralm MTB tour turn to the right on the 6.7 km long gravel road. The average slope to Lechneralm at Km 9 is around 10%. Then there are some flatter sections. After 10.9 km and 852 altimeters you reach the inn Trinkeralm, at an altitude of 1.755m. There is next to the sunny terrace much fantastic views of the Dachstein, Bischofsspitze, Gosaukamm and the Ennstal valley.

In winter is the Fageralm a popular ski resort. The small alpine village Trinkeralm with the inn and the self-catering chalets situated on a plateau right on the slopes of the Fageralm. In summer, the alpine village at the Fageralm is not only the finish of this beautiful mountain bike tour, but also an ideal starting point for some lovely walks like the trail around the Mitterfager in about 50 minutes and in about an hour you reach the mountain Hinterer Fager 1.967m.
