The variant Wine Road Cycling North is 22 kilometers shorter than the entire bike ride in the nature park “Südsteirisches Weinland”. This tour offers a beautiful, distinctive landscape, which is distinguished by its pristine and natural. Who takes a little extra time can also learn about the great hospitality of the wine shops, excellent Styrian wines and many other regional treasures.

We start the bike tour in Leibnitz near the sports ground and first we drive over the former railway bridge. Along the river Lassnitz we drive past the swimming pool in Leibnitz after 1.8 km. From Landscha we take the Mur cycle path R2. After about 12 kilometers we leave the Mur cycle path, turn right and cross the river Mur. A few hundred meters further we drive through the market town Ehrenhausen the "gateway" to the South Styrian wine country. Ehrenhausen is one of themost beautiful towns in southern Styria. The well-kept historic village with its historically and culturally interesting Eggenberger's Mausoleum  are the basis for a very rewarding first stop on our bike ride.

Gamlitz, the largest wine-growing town in Styria, we arrive after 3 kilometers on the South Styrian border road B69. About 10 percent of Styrian wines are grown here. Who will learn more about the history of wine can take a break at the Wine Museum in Gamlitz. The name Gamlitz is slavic and means to the hilly landscape, which we will get to know on this bike tour very well. For this purpose, we drive 1.3 km on the road L621 to Grubtal and turn left onto the hills Labitschberg and Kranachberg.

On Kranachberg after the chapel “Wachkapelle”, we make a little detour and drive down to Kranach. Who wants to save about 150 altimeters can also take the forest path (red line in the Google Map). But anyone who loves his bike should push it about 700m wide. After the descent down to the South Styrian border road we travel on this road for about 700m to the southwest. Then we take the road Pilchstraße and drive back uphill. At kilometer 27, these two variants reunite. On the little-traveled roads we reach in Kreuzberg at kilometer 53 with 613m the highest point of the bicycle tour South Styrian Wine Road. From the wonderful views of the Kreuzberg observatory with the beautiful landscapes of the South Styrian wine country, we are always impressed very much. Then we drive down to the community Großklein and then towards Saggau. The wine road bike ride will take us a little in common with the tour – 2 river along the river Saggau and then continue along the bike path Sulmtal R1 to the village Heimschuh and then further to Kaindorf. After a little more than 50 kilometers, we finish the bike ride back in Leibnitz.
