Sóller is a municipality in the north-west of Mallorca in the Serra de Tramuntana. Away from mass tourism in Palma de Mallorca and from Ballermann at the Playa de Palma, one can get to know on many side roads with little traffic a different side of Mallorca. Unspoilt nature, contemplative houses and narrow streets, an old town with beautiful squares, churches and inviting cafes. Many cyclists use the area around Sóller for a bike ride through the mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana.

First we drive 3 km from Port de Sóller to Sóller and on the road MA-10, we reach after 12 km the beautiful small town of Deia 183m on a hill at the edge of the Tramuntana mountains. Deia is known as the "artists' village of Majorca". On the coastal road with many good viewpoints we continue until we turn after about km 20, at an altitude of 420m, on the MA-1130 to the south towards Valldemossa. Then we drive down to S´Esgleieta, at km 29.6 on the road MA-1140 six kilometers to the east and then north again on the MA-2020 to Bunyola 219m.

There begins just opposite the church the rise towards Coll de Honor 550m. First, it goes steeply (8-10%) in a few switchbacks through the forest, then the road is flat and takes place in a high valley. The pass is located in the forest and there are no specific viewpoints. After a short descent with many serpentine, we arrive on a 70m high hill, the village of Orient before the long descent begins towards Alaró and Lloseta. It is a long descent on a wide road with wide curves. In Caimari at kilometer 75, we cycle along the MA-2130 back up to the Tramuntana mountains. Here we have to overcome on the average 4.8% slope around 550 vertical meters. The next scenic highlights are the two reservoirs Gorg Blau and Cúber between kilometer 92 and 97. After the 500m long tunnel at Km 99 follows a 13 km long descent down to Sóller. Here you could also stay on the MA-10 and go back over Sóller to Port de Sóller. But whoever takes the last 100 vertical meters on the MA-2124, will be rewarded again with the wonderful Mallorcan countryside.
