Due to the 90 meters and some not so slight increases I would classify the "Sturzhahn" cross-country skiing as moderate. Because of the wonderful panorama, the amateurs certainly insert some breaks on the cross-country trail to admire the winter landscape and maybe to make a few photos. With some breaks on the trail of Tauplitzalm is safe for all to overcome. The cross-country skiing "Sturzhahn" you lead either through the larch forest trail from the parking lot, or on the 4-seater chairlift from Tauplitz to Tauplitzalm. From the parking lot at Tauplitzalm until the start of the "Sturzhahn" cross country skiing there are about 1.7 km. From the top station of the 4-chair lift you reach the "Sturzhahn" trail in the east (about 200m) on that skirt just below the top station of "Lärchenwald" trail. Both cross-country trails at the Tauplitzalm are either available on the Tauplitzalm Alpine Road or the 4-seater chairlift from Tauplitz. The Tauplitzalm Alpine Road is a toll road on which you can either go by car or by bus to the Tauplitzalm. From Bad Mitterndorf away the 10-kilometer toll road with hairpin bends over some already impressive panorama (e.g. Dachstein view) to the large parking lot on the Tauplitzalm 1590Hm. At the parking lot of the Tauplitzalm Alpine Road is the little inn "Almstüberl". There, you get next to the cross-country map, to eat and drink. A cell phone and a toilet is also available. 100m east, just over the ski slope up the hill then you get to the entrance to the larch forest trail. On a large table is again displayed the precise position of the larch forest trail and the trail Sturzhahn. On the idyllic mountain village Tauplitzalm there are some restaurants and many quaint cottages. Overall, in the winter season are about 1000 beds available at 1650m. The Tauplitzalm is in winter car-free. The only means of transportation are Skidoos and groomers. Skiers are served by 25 huts and mountain restaurants. The winter pastures on 1600Hm and the wonderful views of the surrounding mountains provide a beautiful backdrop for the two runs. North of the Tauplitzalm the prospect of cross-country skiing is limited right from the southern slope of the mountain Traweng, but the views to the east and south direction with the Ennstal Grimming and west to the Dachstein glacier is simply fantastic. The ski area Tauplitzalm offers 40km sunny, ski slopes (17 easy, 17 medium, 6 heavy) are equipped with 18 lifts (4 chair lifts 14 surface lifts). The base station is located on 900m. The Tauplitzalm is between about 1600m and 1965m. The cross-country trails on Tauplitzalm are awarded with the "Styrian track mark", for which the following criteria must be met:

The "Sturzhahn" trail has a length of 5 km and is an easy cross-country ski trail. Who selects the sport like six kilometers long, medium "Lärchenwald" trail. Both tracks on the Tauplitzalm have the Styrian ski seal of approval and both cross country trails are equipped with a classical and a skating lane. Many cross-country professionals from 14 nations take this wonderful trails for their training. Right next to the village of Tauplitz and near the base station, there are two very nice cross-country ski trails too. The Tauplitz - cross-country track and the Freiberg trail. The day tickets are valid for both cross-country trails at the Tauplitzalm and for the two trails in the valley.
