Alta Badia is with its communities Corvara, Colfosco, La Villa, La Val Badia and San Cassiano in the northeast of the Sella Group in the Dolomites - South Tyrol - Italy. The 6 villages of Alta Badia are summarized in the three communities Corvara, Badia and La Val. The total population in Alta Badia is  about 6.000 inhabitants. The residents of Alta Badia in the southern part of the Badia have their own language - Dolomite Ladin. The valley Badia divides in Corvara and the roads run then over the Grödnerjoch and the Compolongopass. The name Corvara means many ravens, or Rabenstein. Corvara was often a stopover at the bikerace Giro d'Italia.
