Ibiza is with 571km², the third largest of the Balearic Islands - an autonomous Spanish region of the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean. About 130.000 people live in Ibiza, with a foreign population of about 21 percent. With the island of Formentera in the south Ibiza built together with a few small, uninhabited islands, the Pine Islands archipelago. The number of inhabitants of Formentera is around 9.500. Ibiza is a hilly island with a rugged coastline. In between are sandy sections. Pine forests, the sea and far-flung villas affect the image of Ibiza. The capital of Ibiza is Ibiza-Town (Eivissa). The beautiful old town of Ibiza-Town is full of shops, restaurants, bars and discos. The tourist center is located 4km west in the seaside resort Platya d'en Bossa. Again, 4km west is the airport San Jose. In addition to the capital Ibiza-Town there are still major cities in Santa Eulalia des Riu and Sant Antoni de Portmany. Ibiza has the most balanced climate of the Balearic Islands. The average temperature in the summer at 26°C, in winter they get very mild 12°C.

Almost half of the 1.5 million tourists come from Britain, followed by French, Germans and Italians. Ibiza is also an island of the rich and famous. From the mid-1990s, has developed an international club scene with many bars, clubs and discos. The biggest night club in Ibiza between Ibiza Town and Sant Antoni de Portmany provides for about 10.000 spectators.
