Mariazell is a very important pilgrimage place in Austria and is located in the north of the district Bruck an der Mur in Styria, on the border of Lower Austria. The town of Mariazell lies at an altitude of 868m, has an area of 6.44 square kilometers and about 1,600 inhabitants. From Vienna, Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Burgenland, Carinthia and Styria Pilgrim lead to Mariazell.

In summer, especially the lake Erlaufsee is a very popular destination. In the winter you can ice-skating on Erlaufsee very well on the Bürgeralpe skiing and snowboarding.
